I've wanted to try my hand at a blog for quite sometime now. The kiddo's are getting older and I never seem to have time to scrapbook all of it anymore. I've watched co workers; family and friends make really cute books from their blogs so maybe we'll try this.
I can't imagine anyone who doesn't know us would read this sorted tale but just in case I should introduce the clan:
Miquela is our eldest -- she will be 21 this year. Miquela came to us when she was 7 years old with her three little sisters. We became their foster parents for just over 3 years until we were able to adopt them. Miquela lives about a mile away from us in a disability home. She is learning how to work in a sheltered environment. She loves to ride her bike, color, watch movies and eat chips.
Sabrina is 17 and also lives in a disability home but a little further away. She loves to clogg, play the piano, and do hair. Someday she wants to learn how to do hair and nails. She is working very hard this year in her special school and also enjoys LDS Seminary.
Maggie is 16 and currently is in an inpatient mental health facility. Where her sisters have physical and learning challenges from how they were treated Maggie struggles with mental health issues. She has recently been able to have visits off campus -- the last one being 10 hours with us. Maggie is learning to look towards her future with optimism and hope.
Caitlin is14 1/2. She was only 9 months old when she came to us -- our first "baby". She is now in the 8th grade. Caitlin loves Young Women’s, choir, and art. She is a great big sister and my big helper at home. Caitlin is talking more and more since she began a new seizure medication -- it is so exciting to hear all of her ideas and thoughts.
Sydney will be 12 in two weeks. She is excited to be heading into Young Women’s but sad to leave Achievement Days. Sydney was born with Hypo plastic left heart and was blessed to receive a heart transplant as a newborn at LLUMC. We have an open adoption with her birth family and that has blessed all of our lives.
Jonathan is our sweet 7 year old son. He is going to make the best husband because he will understand everything about women. Jon is a quiet, kind soul who likes to help others, cook, learn and draw. Some of his favorite things are riding his bike, his DS, and watching the cooking channel with me :) . Right now his hero is Bobby Flay!
Zachary is our baby and is 3 1/2 now. He is always in hurry to get things done beginning with his birth. He was due Christmas day 2006 -- I was admitted in active labor to the hospital for good on 24 August 2006. Zachary managed to hold off his big entrance for another month but has been busy ever since. He love to watch Sprout, any kind of truck or train, to color (on paper more than the walls soon I hope), and "be big like Jon".
Charles Is my brave hubby -- who deals with a lot of chaos having four kiddos at home, two cats and our new arrival Buddy the dog. Charles drives truck between SLC and Nor Cal mostly. He plans to find something else to do soon so that he can spend more time at home with us (I'm thrilled!). Charles likes to read, watch educational TV, beat me at poker and teach the kids and dog funny things that drive me nuts!
Angela I'm the Momma. I work full time for an airline -- lets just say my favorite color is BLUE! I spent 4+ years in our Groups department but have recently moved on to CRC (central reservations control). I test out new processes, change passwords, solve problems, create problems and love almost every moment of it. In my limited spare time I love to travel, the beach, taking pictures, being with my hubby and kids and learning new things.
Welcome to our world -- we have our ups and downs and I'm a little to "real" for most people. Stop by and take a look, leave a note if you'd like.
This ends the first of many installments (I hope).
